Lyca Mobile Australia: Long-Expiry Prepaid Plan Deals

Lyca Mobile Australia sells prepaid SIM-only plans that run on the Vodafone 4G and 5G network. It is part of the same international Lyca group as the US operator, but plans, prices and network are entirely separate. Its plans suit people who bring their own phone and want to avoid a contract.

Long-expiry plans

The current headline deals are on Lyca's long-expiry plans, where you pay once for six or twelve months of service. Data is released in 30-day blocks rather than all at once. For example, comparison site WhistleOut describes the Medium Long Expiry plan as 360GB in total, given as 30GB every 30 days across 12 periods, for use in Australia. Tom's Guide notes that unused Lyca data can roll over up to 500GB, which helps in lighter months.

Who it suits

The long-expiry plans suit people who want one payment a year and a steady monthly allowance: students, retirees, and anyone tired of monthly recharges. The Medium plan's 30GB a month covers most people who stream on Wi-Fi at home. The Large plan's allowance is aimed at heavy users or people who hotspot a laptop. Before switching

Check Vodafone coverage at your home and work, since coverage varies more outside capital cities. Your phone must be unlocked, and you can usually keep your number by porting it during activation.
